16 July 2024 - The Global Youth Coalition for Road Safety celebrated its 4th Anniversary through a virtual event that invited members and stakeholders to join in on the festivities.
The webinar, led by YOURS - Youth for Road Safety Community Organiser Sofía Aguirre Moreno, featured a networking session where members got to know one another a bit more. There were also some updates about the new members of the Youth Leadership Board, the Advocacy and Campaigns Toolkit, and the 3rd World Youth Assembly for Road Safety happening in Marrakech, Morroco in February 2025.
One of the highlights of the webinar was the official launch of the Youth Coalition Recruitment video which invited young people from around the world to join the youth and road safety movement.
YOURS Senior Projects Manager, Ivan Viquez Solorzano, spoke about the journey of the Youth Coalition by talking about highlights in a timeline, beginning during the first World Youth Assembly on Road Safety.
”During these four years, we have acknowledged an organisation, a movement of young people growing all around the world. Today, we can celebrate so many achievements and the growth of this movement… What we are celebrating today is what you[th] have done. Today, what we can envision is a movement that is going to keep growing, a movement that is going to have more impact.” - Ivan Viquez Solorzano
This continued growth means a new set of youth leaders taking the helm as the new Youth Leadership Board Congratulations to Deepanshu Gupta from India, Estiara Ellizar from Indonesia, Haidarsho Makulshoev from Tajikistan, Linda Nekesa Masibo from Belgium, Luke Van Wyk from South Africa, Oliva Nalwadda from Uganda, Salman Khan from India, Valeria Moreno from Peru, Ray Adrian Macalalag from the Philippines, and Yasmine Al Moghrabi from the United States.
